Vietnamese workers in Malaysia

Vietnam today is a country with a rising population, and a large number of young people. According to government officials, there are as many as 8 million Vietnamese of working age needing to find work. With these figures, it is not surprising that Vietnam has, for the last few years, been trying to ease this problem by "exporting" Vietnamese workers to other countries.

In fact, Vietnamese people are now working in 40 countries around the world, mostly in nearby South-East Asian countries.  Today, Malaysia employs the largest number of Vietnamese guest workers – over 160,000 – mainly in health care, garment-making, wood processing and construction

However, the biggest need is that these workers, away from their home culture and families, will hear the gospel, as very few of them are Christians. At present, there are few Vietnamese Christians working among them. But God is beginning to rise up several Vietnamese Christians with a burden to reach these overseas workers.
